Tiemoue Bakayoko iterates ambition to remain with AC Milan next term
France international Tiemoue Bakayoko has reiterated his ambition to stay put with AC Milan beyond the expiry of his loan contract. The France international joined the Rossoneri on a season-long loan from Chelsea at the beginning of the season and he has since settled comfortably with the club while becoming a regular starter.
Due to this, the midfielder has been regularly asked whether he sees his long-term future with the Rossoneri and speaking to Nice Matin, he has acknowledged that could be the case, if both sides reach a transfer agreement at the end of the campaign, he said: “Things are going well for the club and I right now. There wasn’t a turning point. I just wanted to show that I was good enough for a big club. Milan are on a different planet.
“I was greeted by Maldini and Leonardo on my first day and you immediately realise who you’re dealing with. Then you have the atmosphere at San Siro, which is extraordinary. Milan are a legendary club. Who wouldn’t like to stay at a club like Milan for a long time? Having said that, I’m still under contract with Chelsea for the next three years. I don’t have all the cards.”
“The Rossoneri have included the option to buy when the current campaign“ comes to a close but Bakayoko has previously indicated that the transfer may depend on whether the Milan giants are able to make a Champions League comeback next term. The club are currently holding onto the fourth position on the standings but they can’t afford even the slightest of setbacks with Atalanta, AS Roma and “Lazio right behind them“ with a one-point deficit.
Bakayoko was criticised by manager Gennaro Gattuso during the early part of his Rossoneri career but he has been able to win the confidence of the manager thereafter and has been almost ever-present over the past three months.
