KEANE MISSING BECKHAM

Despite the arrival of star striker Robbie Keane from England, LA Galaxy have been struggling in the last few weeks.

Many have attributed to this poor run of form by the club managed by Bruce Arena to the lack of star midfielder David Beckham, who is the main supply line.

David Beckham proved that this is once again the case by returning in a scoring fashion in the match against Chicago Fire recently. LA Galaxy are currently bottom of the MLS table after having won the title last season. Just when it seemed that they would not be a challenger at the top of the table this season, David Beckham returned to provide two crucial goals for the club against Chicago Fire.

David Beckham helped LA Galaxy scored the first goal through a brilliant freekick, which was put into the back of his own net by defender Marvell Wynn. He then turned provider for his own teammate Robbie Keane, who made no mistake with the finish.

Robbie Keane is expected to have made a major impact with the club, but so far, it has been disappointing due to the lack of service. However, with the return of the 36-year-old Beckham, things are expected to improve in the near future. Beckham shrugged off a back problem to make it into the first-team for this match.

“I’ll be OK after a bit of rest and this was a big win for us. That’s back-to-back wins and it’s a stepping stone to what we want to achieve this season,” Beckham said after the match. Despite coming close to the end of his career, Beckham has said that he is keen to be picked for the Team GB to play at the 2012 London Olympics. Beckham could be one of the three over 23 players.
