LUIS ALBERTO FIT FOR VERONA CLASH
Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto has returned to training to hand his Italian football capital club a big boost ahead of the game against Hellas Verona on Sunday. Alberto has returned to full training after a recent time out as a result of injury and he's in line to return to the Lazio starting XI for the game against home team Verona on Sunday afternoon.
The news of his return to full training was revealed by a report from the stables of popular Italian football news portal Tuttomercatoweb. It was also revealed that other Lazio players like Patric, DaniloCataldi and Mateo Musacchio have also returned to training.
Patric has recovered from his back injury and he could be in the Lazio squad for the trip to Verona as the Italian football capital club fight for a place in the top four at the end of the season. Only the top four teams will represent the Italian Serie A in the Champions League next season.
Lazio returned to the Champions League stage this season and a second successive appearance in the competition won't be a bad idea. Lazio were eliminated by holders Bayern Munich at the round of 16 stage after a 6-2 aggregate win.
It was a relatively successful return to Europe's premier club competition for Lazio despite the fact that they were convincingly beaten by the Bavarian giants in the first knockout stage as pointed out earlier.
Lazio have some work to do in the league if they are to qualify for the Champions League once again. Atalanta occupy the fourth and final Champions League place as things stand on the Serie A log and Lazio are six points off them having played a game less than their fellow Champions League chasers. Since the 3-1 loss to hosts Juventus, Lazio have won three straight games. A fourth successive win could be on the horizon ahead of the trip to Verona.
